The adult eagles are brown with white head, and tail. They have very sharp talons for grasping fish, and small birds. The adult female lays the egg, or eggs210 in late November or early December, and they hatch out about early January. They succesfuly raised two eaglets the first year in 2003/04, and two eaglets the second year in 2004/05. 2005/06, and 2006/07 just one eaglet. 2007/08, and 2008,09 they succesfuly raised two eaglets. The eaglet is usually about six to eight weeks old when they begin to learn how to fly. The young eagles normally don't come back to the nest each year like the adult eagles do. If they do they may get chased off from one of the adult eagles. The adult eagles mate for life sometimes. And they can use the same nest for six to eight years or more. The eagles nest in the winter time from late September till about the late May or June. They feed on fish, turtles, small birds, ducks, and rabbits. The adult eagles help with sitting on the nest and careing for the little ones while the sitting female leaves the nest for awhile.
The eagles are nesting again for the 2009/2010 season, this will be there seventh year in this nest now. I already have some pictures up on my website now. The links for my pictures are listed in my portfolio.
